January Weekly Blog Posts

January 31, 2021

Hi Everyone,

Here are the weekly videos. The first video is the cream of the crop, it shows the finest shots of the past decade.

  • Watch Best Points of the decade. Each stroke and rally is worth watching. The video is a little long, however, it will give you an idea of the best shots/rallies of the last decade. Timo Boll makes amazing shots while switching his hands, and a few other World Champions play outstanding shots while hitting behind their backs. Furthermore, there are some magnificent side and around-the-net shots. (about 37 minutes)

  • Watch the Funniest Ping Pong match. I am sure you’ve never seen a table tennis match like this before. It’s a very fascinating match. Tables are set up in an unusual way which makes it interesting to watch. (about 5 minutes)

  • Watch Attack and Defense shots. A few nice attack and defensive strokes. (about 2 minutes)

Stay safe!

Hello all,

Here is the weekly dose of videos and articles for everyone.

  • Watch these unbelievable shots filmed during championship matches and local tournaments. This video will teach us a lesson that we should never give up and always keep fighting. (about 8 minutes).

  • Watch this coach's son do excellent footwork and play against a table tennis robot. He's the son of Samson Dubina, who is a coach and club owner in Ohio. (about 1 minute)

  • Read this article, about “Three Thousand Days of Table Tennis”. Will Shortz is an NPR puzzle master and owner of the Westchester table tennis club in NY. This is an interesting article about how he reaches his journey of 3000 consecutive days of playing table tennis.

Well, that’s pretty much it for this week. I’m working on my next blog post and will hopefully share it by February. It will be about “push strokes”, let me know questions you have on that topic & what you’d like to learn.

Hi Table Tennis Fans,

I hope all is well. Here are some videos to watch for this week.

  • Watch Adam Bobrow, an American player and ITTF commentator, who made 20 hilarious shots. He returns lob and snake shots to his opponents. A snake is a wiggly shot loaded with a heavy spin. (about 8 minutes)

  • Watch Timo Boll, (Germany world ranking 6) vs Kanak Jha (USA world ranking 26). Boll as an experienced player is very focused and determined. A fascinating match to watch. (about 7 minutes)

  • Read this article about ITTF, a Men and Women World ranking 2021 article. The top 5 men and women are from China (no surprise there). Congrats to USA Kanak Jha who ranked #28. Also to Lily Zhang and Jennifer Wu ranked #30 and #31 respectively.

Finally, I have finished my 2nd blog post! After a lot of thinking I’ve decided to write about the fundamentals of table tennis.

In this post, I talk about the basic and most essential strokes of table tennis. I teach you the specific steps of how to execute them and what most people do incorrectly. This blog post is very important for recreational and beginner players.
